The Life Enrichment Director will be part of a team responsible for planning and implementing recreational/leisure activities for residents at Cedarbrook. This is professional therapy work supervising the recreational therapy program for residents of a County long term care facility. The position in this class plans, organizes and directs the provision of recreational therapy as part of overall resident treatment plans provided by residents’ physicians. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: · Thorough knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles, practices, materials and equipment for use with individuals in a long term care facility · Establishes goals and treatment plans for residents; directs intradepartmental conferences to determine progress of residents · Prepares annual budget requests and develops departmental policies and objectives. · Coordinates therapeutic recreation activities with activities of other departments; evaluates overall and individual recreational therapy programs for effectiveness · Identifies need for changes to policies and procedures for therapeutic recreation activities · Maintains program and operational standards in compliance with federal, state and professional organization accreditation regulations. · Thorough knowledge of governmental regulations and requirements governing therapeutic recreation. · Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. · Selects candidates for and trains recreational therapy staff ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: · Educational equivalent to completion of a bachelor’s degree program with major course work in recreational therapy as well as a certified TR specialist (CTRS). · Three to four years’ experience in recreational therapy work which has included experience designing and/or administering overall therapeutic recreation programs in a long term care facility. · Two years of Supervisory Experience · Or the equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities cited above. Activities Aide Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center 401 University Drive Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972 Job Description -Under general supervision, implement activity programs designed to promote development of social, mental, and physical skills and provide for positive moral. -Lead planned activities, games and events to encourage residents to use mental and physical faculties; provide group and individual instruction and hands-on support and guidance to residents; develop craft, music, and rhythmic activities from own initiative of from resource materials; utilize word games, floor games, listening tapes, slides and video to provide constructive stimulation and boost morale. -Talk with residents to encourage social interaction; listen and respond, encourage interchange of conversation among residents; monitor social interactions; distract attention from negative interactions and mediate potential or actual arguments; channel group attention to varied areas of interest and entertainment. -Meet with department Director to review planned activities, resolve problems and discuss needs of residents. -Read resource materials to learn the nature and purpose of programs and activities for residential care for the elderly. -Documentation of resident participation for independent, groups (small/large), and one to one activities.
